We are looking for a self-motivated Melbourne based lawyer with 2-4 years post qualification experience to join our team as a Senior Consultant, to support our practice on legal and broader remuneration advisory consulting matters.

We are an independent boutique people consultancy firm with a large and diverse ASX 150 client base. We provide advice to Boards and the C-Suite of Australia’s leading companies on their most complex people and governance matters. This includes executive remuneration design, stakeholder communication and Board and executive succession planning, transition and governance.

Our focus is on advising the high watermark of ASX companies on people matters by providing fresh ideas which are informed, but not constrained, by market practice. We have extensive experience working with Board and management teams across a range of industries and our people have a mix of broad consulting and in-house experience.

About the role

This role:

  • Is an on-site role located at our office in Southbank, Melbourne. While we provide flexible working arrangements, as a small project based team, we strongly encourage our employees to spend time in the office to facilitate real time learning and collaboration and to enhance the opportunity to be involved in client interactions with our senior team members;

  • Will suit those looking to work on a broader range of corporate strategic and consulting matters, while still maintaining the legal underpinnings of the role;

  • Will be responsible for, and involved with, project management and delivery to our extensive and enviable ASX 150 client base. Our project range is broad and interesting and includes equity remuneration design and implementation, advising Boards on Board and senior executive succession planning, conducting Board reviews, as well as stakeholder communications (eg Notice of Meeting and Remuneration Report drafting, and proxy advisor engagement);

  • Will be part of a close-knit team, so you will have opportunities to be ‘hands on’, working directly with, and learning from, senior members within the team, as well as working with our Analysts who will produce meaningful data to support client solutions; and

  • Will be client facing, allowing you to build and maintain relationships with Australia’s brightest business minds, including actively identifying additional projects and support that can be provided to develop client relationships and grow our remuneration advisory practice.

Responsibilities

While you would work across the full spectrum of our people related assignments, specific responsibilities of the role would include:

  • Leveraging existing skills to execute on the legal aspects of our projects – such as interpreting legislation and regulatory requirements (eg Corporations Act, ASX Listing Rules, etc), considering legal opportunities or risks and drafting documentation;

  • Preparing and delivering clear and succinct advice for our clients on legal implications of our projects; and

  • Facilitating and contributing to team cohesion – particularly assisting in coordinating project delivery and making best use of the range of experience and disciplines within our team to provide superior client outcomes.

About you

You hold a degree in law and have 2-4 years post qualification experience. You are a self-motivated Melbourne based lawyer who ideally, has previous experience in a commercial law firm or in-house legal role (eg corporate, equity capital markets, mergers & acquisitions) or a consulting role in the corporate governance or reward space.
